What is it?

CCMSP(California Changeable Message Signs Preview) is a website that displays all of the changeable message signs on California's highways.

How does it work?

It calls the Caltrans CMS API endpoint and gets the data for all the message signs in the district you select. The API updates every 1 - 5 minutes, depending on the district, so you can actually observe the message signs changing when you reload. Some signs are animated, so they flip between the two preset messages every two seconds.

Why did I make it?

To be completely honest I was bored. I was browsing the internet when I came across the Caltrans API website. Specifically the CMS page. I thought it would be fun to turn the API responses into a visual representation of what the message signs look like. This was just a quick one hour project I did on the side while in online school.
