A staffing management tool for 7Factor, a company that builds custom and scalable software solutions.
The Staffing Management Platform (Project Force) is a comprehensive tool designed to assist 7Factor, a software consulting firm based in Atlanta, Georgia, in effectively managing various aspects of their operations. This platform aims to track billable hours, monitor company revenue, and oversee diverse project resources, ensuring streamlined processes. The initiative began with a previous Major Qualifying Project (MQP) team in the 2023-2024 academic year, who laid a solid foundation for the system. Our current team is tasked with advancing this project, incorporating modern technologies and innovative solutions to meet 7Factor's specific needs.
The Major Qualifying Project (MQP) is a capstone experience at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) that allows students to apply their academic knowledge to real-world problems in their field of study. Typically undertaken in teams, the MQP involves high-level research, design, or application, often in collaboration with external organizations. Successful completion of an MQP demonstrates proficiency in problem-solving, effective communication, and the ability to integrate information from multiple sources. More info on WPI's website
7Factor identified a gap in existing third-party solutions for managing their staffing needs, as none adequately addressed their specific requirements. To bridge this gap, they started developing a custom Staffing Management Platform, collaborating with WPI students through the MQP program. The partnership gave us an opportunity to gain real-world experience, sharpen software development skills, and engage in creative problem-solving. By working with professional developers from 7Factor, we are not only contributing to a meaningful project but gained valuable feedback we can apply to future jobs.
